MBS through the ages...
It was the late 1970's and the culture was flourishing with bell-bottoms, sideburns, platform shoes, and afros. Chevy Camaro's, Pontiac Trans Am's, and Dodge Charger's ruled the road by day while Sylvester Stallone and Al Pacino ruled the film industry by night. Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, and The Eagles released the ever-popular hits "Stairway to Heaven", "Born to Run", and "Hotel California". Meanwhile in the auto body industry, John P. McNicholas began taking the initial steps in opening an auto body repair shop in Wheaton, IL.
On November 15th, 1976, John P. McNicholas opened the doors for the first time to Mac's Body Shop, Inc. Initially located on St. Charles Rd. in Wheaton, IL, John opened the shop with the aid of his youngest son Kieran P. McNicholas (otherwise known as "Mac"). It was at that same little shop that the cars of the day were restored to their original, sparkling beauty and Mac's Body Shop, Inc.'s reputation for quality craftsmanship and top quality service began to take shape.

As the 1980's rolled around, the world was taken aback by rise of MTV, rock music, the Brat Pack, and the Nintendo era. As Madonna, Indiana Jones, music videos, and Pac-Man flourished throughout America; Mac's Body Shop, Inc. did the same in the automotive industry.
Continuing on establishing a valuable reputation both in the community and the industry, John and Kieran continued business as usual at the original Wheaton shop.

During the dawn of the Information Age technology and pop culture flourished bringing about the Internet, the popular sitcoms "Friends" and "Seinfeld", boy bands Backstreet Boys and N'SYNC, and the highest grossing film of all time Titanic. In the midst of the quickly expanding Information Age, Ford debuted the Explorer and gave birth to the SUV market. Ford also maintained it's good fortunes with the Taurus , the number one selling sedan from 1995 to 1998 (beating out the previous top seller Honda Accord).
At Mac's Body Shop, Inc., Kieran and John's reputation for being a trusted service provider in the community exceed their wildest expectations. In order to meet keep their valued reputation, they relocated to a larger work space in order to continue meeting the demands of quickly growing customer base. In July of 1986 Mac's Body Shop, Inc. moved to a larger shop in Carol Stream, IL (just a few miles from their original Wheaton shop).
The 90's brought on the era of direct repairs which allowed insurance companies to recommend the body shops they trusted. Of course, after nearly 20 years in business, Mac's was tops on a lot of those lists as their quality of service and craftsmanship continued to earn them high marks and many referrals. As the nineties came to a close, the great one (Wayne Gretzky) retired from professional hockey and the economy would soon be under a cloud of the impending market crash of the new millennium.

With the onset of the new millennium, the world was bombarded with new technological innovations such as the iPod, reality television, and the new gaming system XBOX360. Skinny jeans, crocs, and ugg boots were on the rise in the fashion world and the auto industry was changing by the second. Auto makers were now releasing solar-powered Hybrid cars, cars that could parallel park themselves, and automatic cars had become a way of life.
Now well known as a prominent leader in the industry, business continued on as usual at Mac's Body Shop, Inc. In 2003, we sadly lost a valued member of the Mac's Body Shop, Inc. family, our founder, John P. McNicholas. After 27 years at MBS, his memory will remain with us forever.
In November of 2006, Mac's Body Shop, Inc. celebrated their 30th year in business. Mac continues to grow his customer base by providing great workmanship and outstanding customer service shown by the loyalty of his customers. In the future we hope to continue the MBS legacy into a third generation and have Kieran's youngest son, John K. McNicholas, follow in his father's footsteps to someday takeover Mac's Body Shop, Inc.
